Meeting Recap Is Coming to Microsoft Teams

Microsoft’s collaboration and communication platform, Microsoft Teams, is set to receive an update next month. The improvements are being made to how you have been organizing and participating in meetings till now. The new feature is called Meeting Recap, and it will change your experience across the platform. According to Microsoft, the update is in the process of rolling out and will be available generally by mid-February 2021. Let’s take a look at this update and how it will affect Microsoft Teams user experience.

How Will Meeting Recap Work?

The Meeting Recap feature will allow attendees as well as those who couldn’t join because of some reasons to access meeting content once the meeting is over. Microsoft Teams users will be able to find meeting recordings, chat, transcript, shared files, and more by clicking on the meeting’s Details tab. This Meeting Recap feature will be very useful for Teams meetings organized for training purposes, for example. Trainees will be easily able to find the information they need to stay on track without having to contact the organizer of the meeting.

How Can You Access this Feature?

The Recap feature will be accessible in the meeting Details tab in each meeting for Microsoft Teams users. It will also be available for them in the Event tab in the Outlook calendar. All the meeting media files will be automatically shared in the Chat tab, and users will be able to view them from the meeting Details tab. Recaps will help team members obtain every information they need to catch up with the workflow.

Does Teams Have More Updates Lined Up for 2021?

In addition to Meeting Recap, Microsoft Teams is poised to receive one more essential update, announced and confirmed by Microsoft. The Teams settings will soon have an option for setting a Teams meeting lobby, which will allow meeting organizers to make sure that only those users who have received a Calendar invite will be able to bypass the lobby when an organizer schedules a meeting. Currently, this update is in development for Microsoft Teams, and both production and GCC environments will be able to leverage this feature once it is launched.
