Microsoft Teams to Receive PowerPoint Presenter View

Technology gets old fast. What was called innovative yesterday might not be important today. The dynamic technology landscape keeps updating to match the changing requirements of the progressive world. Taking this into consideration, technology companies keep updating their products and services to serve their customers continually. In one such attempt, Microsoft is rolling out the PowerPoint Presenter View update for Microsoft Teams. This article will discuss how this update will enhance your meetings experience in Teams.

What is the advantage of Microsoft Teams PowerPoint Presenter View?

Currently, Microsoft Teams provides you a built-in feature called presentation mode for presenting your files in virtual communication. However, it has certain limitations and doesn’t allow presenters to change the way PowerPoint slides are displayed to the meeting participants. PowerPoint Presenter View will enable presenters to choose a slide at will, making the conversation more engaging and impactful than ever before.

What Are the Capabilities of PowerPoint Presenter View?

When the PowerPoint Presenter View is enabled, the presenters will be able to move between slides out of order and select the slide that they want to present at any given time during a meeting. They will also be able to view their notes, which can help them as supporting documents for better presentation. The PowerPoint Presentation View will offer users a thumbnail strip of all slides, enabling them to view how the slides are sequenced. It will also be possible to provide the participants of the meeting with a quick recap as the presenters can go back and forth between slides.

How to Use PowerPoint Presenter View in Microsoft Teams?

PowerPoint Presenter View is currently in preview for Microsoft Teams meetings and is expected to roll out to the general public by the end of January 2021. However, you can start using this feature now by participating in the public preview program for Teams. Once you have joined, you can click the Share icon appearing beside the Leave option in the meeting window. It will enable you to pick a recent presentation file from the Teams Share Tray or locate a file stored on your system or OneDrive to open automatically in the Presenter View. If you are presenting in the meeting, only you will need to turn on the new meeting experience in the Teams Settings to use this feature, and it will only work in multi-window meetings.
